About the event

These workshops will be a deep dive into contact improvisation fundamentals: connection, weight-sharing/bearing, listening, flow, play, presence.

We will have workshops by day and jams in the evening.

Axis Syllabus (Friday only):

The Axis Syllabus is an educational perspective and reference system for human movement that is assembled, revised and tested by a growing international network of dancing researchers and was initiated in the mid 90’s by the american dancer, teacher, author and choreographer Frey Faust.

The knowledge and methods draw from several fields of research including biomechanics, anatomy, physics, western medical sciences, physiology, anthropology and an expansive collection of empirical knowledge.

Friday evening we have a separate Ecstatic Dance event at Mycelium Space nearby in Frome.

a few words from Zoë on the weekend’s offerings:

“Feeling ever fascinated by Fascial flow.  The simultaneous layering of ancestry, emotion, physicality and function in this responsive connective tissue. Fascia is the tissue of somatic experience and physical expression. It gives us form to support partners and allows us to flow over our them.  A magic, merging mirage melting from moment to moment. An endless web of emerging contact  I would like to share zoom-ins on specific and zoom-outs to expansive dance tools.”

Details: Bring your own lunch and optional Dinners from Burrito Boy and Lungi Babas (beloved local Frome takeouts). Plenty of tea and a Christmas tree.

Open to beginners and ultimate experts of CI and all in-between.

Live musicians for the jams TBA soon…
